This artwork recalls the many sacrifices made for our military. It's now our most popular "T"!
And here's a similar moral about a Bear and Two Travelers that explains how Americans sacrificed for each other.
Two Men were traveling through a forest, when, all at once, a huge Bear crashed out of the brush into their path.
One of the Men, thinking of his own safety, climbed a tree. The other, unable to fight the savage beast alone, threw himself on the ground and lay still, as if dead. Rumors were that a Bear would not touch a dead body.
It must have been true. The Bear sniffed at the Man’s head, and then, satisfied he was dead, walked away.
The Man in the tree climbed down. “It looked liked that Bear whispered in your ear,” he said. “What did he tell you?”
“He said,” answered the other Man, “that it was not wise to keep company with a fellow who would desert his friend in a moment of danger."
Moral: The misfortune of war tests the sincerity of all citizens.
Imagine the sacrifice at home and abroad. Soon after the Pearl Harbor attack, the government rationed foods beginning with sugar but soon including butter, milk, cheese, eggs, coffee, meat, and canned goods. U.S. citizens were unable to purchase sugar and other foods without government-issued food coupons.
In order to provide U.S. soldiers with nutrition for strength and vitality, posters like "Sugar Rationing" urged Americans to reduce their personal consumption of sugar and other foods such as meat, wheat, and fats. And to keep America's military rolling the U.S. government enforced rationing rules on gasoline, tires, shoes, and clothing.
This story has a great moral about hard work and planning for the future and is a perfect teaching moment for children and grandchildren…and even young adults!
Truly a great gift and educational excursion into a great generation…give this Tee to friends, family, and of course, treat yourself to history and its role in America's victory.
